Can You Belt That?
NB This event has now taken place – but feel free to view the photographs of the event and let us know if you'd like to be added to our email listing of those interested in attending a singing course in the future.
> What happens when your MD says “Can You Belt That”? Do you know how to belt? Belting is high energy, high intensity vocalising that sounds exciting and dangerous but can be done healthily. This workshop is for you if you want to know how to belt safely, or if you want to improve your belting. Do you belt just the note, the phrase or the whole song? Discover when to belt and when not to, and find out how many belt notes there should be in a song (or a role). If you don’t belt it, what other options do you have that work? Find out what other sounds you can make (and when) to support or replace your belting. And work out what the MD really means! Groundbreaking vocal trainers Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher from Vocal Process take you step by step through the sounds and techniques of belting and musical theatre singing. Gillyanne and Jeremy have been promoting belting courses since 1997, and their courses often sell out. They have been coaching West End singers for more than 20 years, and have written and presented on belting and musical theatre singing around the world. In July 2011 they will be Masterteachers for 2011 in Australia and New Zealand."Revolutionising the way singing is taught" LINK magazine "I never thought I'd get it in one day!" ALS, West End singer

- someone who needs to belt but doesn’t have the technique or confidence to make that sound
- someone who needs to teach musical theatre but doesn’t know where to start with belting
- someone who has sung classically but wants to move into more modern sounds
There are two levels to this course:
