| Bertarelli Foundation Creative Minds Festival | |
| > | Date 3 – 7 July 2012
Event detail The inaugural Festival will tie into the once in a lifetime sporting event, the London Olympics, and Stoke Creative Learning, the Education Department at The Regent Theatre, Stoke, invites your school / group to be part of this fantastic event. The Olympic Torch Relay visits Stoke on Wednesday 30 May 2012, weaving its way across the country toward the Opening Ceremony on Thursday 26 July 2012. As part of the region’s Olympic celebration The Regent Theatre, Stoke’s number one venue, are inviting schools and community groups to be part of the Bertarelli Foundation Creative Minds Festival. This event will be Olympic-themed and, following this year’s festivity, it will become an annual event celebrating young people’s achievements in Staffordshire with a different theme each year. From late May professional arts practitioners will deliver a series of workshops over an agreed number of sessions with schools and community groups. They will structure, devise, rehearse either one fifteen-minute ‘event’ – theatre piece, song(s), music piece, record a five-minute film or create a piece of artwork which will then be performed / shown / displayed at the Regent Theatre during the Festival week. For children and young adults the benefits of the Festival ‘experience’ will be physical, emotional, social and cognitive through the work they create and perform. For adults – and particularly teachers – there are numerous CPD elements structured to enhance skills and personal / professional development. For both it will be FUN!
